Why people look for a Muslim Pro alternative
Muslim Pro is the most complete Islamic app there is, and for many people that is exactly the problem. The free tier is supported by ads, and an app you open in a moment of worship is the last place you want an interstitial. Others simply find the app has grown: a feed, halal places, audio libraries and settings layered over the two things they came for — reading and praying.
There is also a trust question that comes up often. In 2020 it was reported that location data from the app had reached a data broker with government contracts; Bitsmedia acknowledged the relationship and said it ended it. Whatever you conclude, the searches that followed were people asking a reasonable question: what else is out there?
What to actually compare
Feature checklists mislead here, because almost every app in this category has prayer times, a Qibla compass and a Quran. What differs is what the app is built around — and that is what you feel on day thirty, not day one.
Ask three questions. Do you open it mostly to read, or mostly to know when to pray? Do you need the Arabic supported by transliteration and tafsir, or do you read fluently already? And do you want the app to help you keep going on the days you don't feel like it? The last one is where most apps in this category simply don't compete.
Who should stay on Muslim Pro
If you use the audio recitation library heavily, rely on the halal restaurant finder while travelling, or have years of history in the app, switching costs you more than the ads do. Muslim Pro's premium tier removes the ads, and that alone resolves the most common complaint.
Switch if the app has stopped being a calm place. If you find yourself closing it faster than you open it, you don't need more features — you need fewer, arranged around the habit you are trying to keep.
